Hey! I'm Alex and work in Bristol, Taunton and online. I have a background in music and find a lot of my clients come from creative backgrounds and industries. As well as being a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist I also teach mindfulness and facilitate men's circles. My practice is led by helping people to be kinder to themselves.

About Alex Parsons Hypnotherapy

I live and work in Taunton, recently moving here after 25 years in Bristol. I still enjoy weekly trips to Bristol to continue offering in-person clinics.


I am a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist and I love my work and the people that I’m lucky enough to work with.
A solution focused therapeutic approach means that together we look at how you’d prefer your life to be. What the future looks like if you were suffering less. I feel so grateful that my work entails exploring these things with people, and seeing them move toward that future.
And we know that life certainly brings suffering. Every one of us can’t easily escape death or taxes!
Most people come to me with anxiety in some of it’s many forms. It could be from events in the past, it could be due to worries about the future. Some come with anxiety in relationships with others, or with things that they put into their bodies. I see people suffering with depression, issues around anger, irrational fears or phobias.


It doesn’t matter how big or how small you view your anxieties, how you imagine they seem to others. If anxious thoughts or feelings occupy your mind and body, you deserve to be free of anxiety and to take control of your life again.


An important part of the work that I do is to teach people about their brain. How our current understanding of mental health impacts each and every one of us. I feel really passionate about keeping up to date with the neuroscience that informs therapeutic work and how I can share that with you and tailor that understanding to your experience.


I practise mindfulness (badly)! Present moment awareness informs much of my approach to how we can make changes in our thoughts and our lives. I have been lucky enough to work with the Mindful Life, a charity helping carers cope with stress and difficult emotions. As a father to kids with neurodiversity this has been such an important part of my life personally, as well as helping me to grow professionally.


I have been practising as a Hypnotherapist for almost a decade. I have been an MC and lyricist for almost 30 years! I’m really passionate about making music and being creative in writing and improvising. Leading people through hypnosis feels very similar in creative terms, exploring language, using improvisation, metaphor and story. I regularly find myself in a flow state while doing this work.
I’m super proud that I get to regularly work with artists and creatives. Seeing people overcoming their obstacles, stepping out of their comfort zones and finding their own states of flow. 


Some of the most fulfilling work I do is in facilitating men’s groups. Helping others to explore their emotions without shame or judgement and witnessing their journeys, all the ups and downs that life hands out. It’s truly beautiful and I feel blessed that I get to lead, and be led by, some remarkable humans. In fact, I feel this way about all of the work I do!


Of course, in no way am I perfect. I undertook this role of helping others because of my own journey. I needed to understand myself more deeply and discover how I could grow. I found adolescence extremely difficult. Relationships, attachment and connection with others tainted by anxiety. I’ve been depressed and have self harmed. But others didn’t give up on me and I haven’t given up on myself.

Just like me, you deserve to continue to grow. You deserve to make good decisions for yourself and experience happiness.
I’m really excited to be sharing this and am looking forward to hopefully working with you.
